Goodness, trust the Dutch to always take the next step! :P
BTW, I love your ICON. I have a friend, who's into Curious George, so would you mind if I emailed her this user icon? She doesn't have LJ so it will probably only be for AIM (if any thing) :)
Good points in that infidels article (esp. re consent).
what I think is more generally going on is that women are still commodities in the sexual economy, and a man who has a commitment to more than one woman is therefore perceived as getting more than his fair share of female possessions
Yes. You'd think when I'm seeing two poly guys, the fears about the first one "taking advantage" of me would go away ("oh, she's got more than one, I guess she's not just a poor little harem member, then"), but no, the attitude of objectors is "You're letting two different men take advantage of you!". Sigh.
Don't forget that to most people, "polyamory" actually means polygyny - more than one woman with a single man. The idea that a woman might choose to be with more than one man is too much for their poor little brains to process.
From the opinion piece: Bianca and Mirjam are both bisexual, and there is a clear implication that they are involved with one another as well as with Victor, yet the wording suggests a "V" triad where Victor is the anchor and the women's attachment is only through him (an implication emphasized by the one available photo, which shows the women on either side of him, kissing his cheeks and not touching one another).
I honestly didn't see much suggestion of a "V" (instead of a triangle) in the wording of the original article. Furthermore, the picture is probably the best possible for its original purpose of selling newspapers. Face it, if the three were all kissing each other, it would make for a sucky photo.
It's actually a bit difficult for three people to kiss at the same time. It can be done, but it's ultimately more fun to "pass it around" between all the people involved. (And yes, I think you're right: Look, see the shocking photo of a man being kissed by two women? Buy Our Paper!)
I concede the difficulty of a simultaneous 3-way kiss. I suppose I was more concerned that any significant interaction between the two "end people" in the picture would obscure the "good bits" in a photographic sense. (Yes, I am *such* a techie at times...)
