Reminds me of that old Stephen King story about the astronaut who was possessed by aliens and had eyes appearing all over his body.

I don't remember that one (where was it?). Have you seen the one titled Lady Fingers with the doctor trapped on the island? Stephen King was completely out of line on that story.:-)

The one I'm referring to was in "Night Shift," which came out in the late '70's or early '80's, I think. King hasn't been good since "It," though people keep telling me to read the "Dark Tower" series.

Yeah, it's called "I Am the Doorway" or something, and it's pretty good. The other one you're thinking of is actually called "Survivor Type." It was all right, but that book, Skeleton Crew had better stories.

Oh!

My mistake.

I really liked the Mist, which I read between Dark Tower books. Guess that one was supposed to be an imagining of what would happen of everything went to hell in the Dark Tower universe. The idea of it actually stuck with me for a bit.

I have tried readig Dark Tower stories a few times now and I just cannot manage more than a couple pages of them. It's odd bcause, whatever faults I can find with Stephen King, inaccessibie writing hasn't been a problem otherwis. But then I always liked the short stories more than the huge epics anyway; I like a good doorstop-sized novel, but I never finished It, I had no interest in The Stand after I read it at least a decade ago. Give me "The Ballad of the Flexible Bullet" or "L.T.'s Theory of Pets" any day.
