Scotland - Day 9 & 10
25 July 2007 12:32So we didn't realize when planning this trip that the release of a certain book in a certain somebodies hometown might be a special day. As it was we get to see more than the usual number of wizards about. Sadly I don't think I got any pictures of any of them. Yes we bought the book, duh.
Anyway, in the morning we hike up Calton Hill which excellent views of the entire city as well as a handful of monuments. Then back down and do a little more shopping (managing to find the cities goth shops) and a quick peek in St. Giles Cathedral as we go to meet up with
Then a tour of Mary King's Close. The close is really neat, a narrow alleyway of a street which is still mostly intact underneath the foundation of the City Chambers building. I thought the location pretty amazing. The tour part wasn't as good as yesterdays ghost tour, but still interesting. It also runs a little long making
Our last day we must head out in the morning. We have a bit of panic as the first train back to Glasgow is about a hour later than we thought it was, still we manage to get back to Glasgow and taxi to the airport in plenty of time for our flight. Which proves uneventful thankfully. Even more thankfully the customs people don't care about our 7 liters of booze. Back to Phily, drive home, unpack, collapse. Very good trip.
