For reasons I won't go into I've been reading various colonial era treaties and I just want to say I envy a time when showing "the Heaps of Bones of their Enemies Slain by them in defence of the said Lands" was considered a legimate claim to land ownership. Full text here.

Totally off topic, is there a Beans event in Dec, or is it trumped by something bigger in the community center?

It's still legitimate, unless there's an earlier legitimate claim or intervening adverse possession.[1]

But in the interests of due diligence, I hope the English insisted on seeing (should that be "feeing") the actual heaps of bones.

[1] And in the latter case, that means you haven't been keeping up with your Heaps-of-Bones-Generation.

Ah, the good ol' days. Things are so complicated now. In a different time the folks outside of our present social norms could have been heroes, champions and leaders.
