first batch:
What was the first board game you fell in love with?
I was indoctrinated as a young child - it was probably The Hobbit game which I'm sure my parents got sick of. Fortunately it only needs two, so when my sister was old enough I could sometimes talk her into it. Close runners-up would be Journey through Europe, which wasn't in English but I didn't care, I just liked travelling places; and Dungeon Dice - I have no idea why I liked that game so much, but I did.
When I got a little older I really liked Risk, although I think I liked the nifty wooden pieces more than the game - I was always making up my own games to use them for.
First "adult" game would probably be Civilization.
Favorite alcoholic beverage?
The Chalet Anthrax concoction, which I think was
keltique's invention: 1/2 vanilla rum, 1/4 Bailey's, 1/4 Godiva liqueur.
At bars I'll usually order a White Russian (made with vanilla flavored vodka if they have it).
Hey, do you wanna come to my wedding?
Yes, whether I actually can or not will depend on when it is and whether I have travel money available then.
What are you going to do/wear for Halloween?
I have no idea. I'm tentatively planning on going to a party which will requre a costume on Saturday, but I don't have anything picked out, I may end up just raiding my closet at the last minute. For Halloween day itself I'm thinking of taking up
revelrain's offer to join the Esoterica contingent in Leesburg's parade.

Date: 25 Oct 2005 16:18 (UTC)dad was an avid hex-based wargamer, and taught me Tactics II (granted, a grid-based game)when I was 8, OGRE and Melee (the combat engine of The Fantasy Trip, which evolved into GURPS) at 10, original Civ by 12. I don't *quite* have his patience for a long-term campaign game of the type he plays regularly, though as I'm getting older, I'm getting more curious. My catch is that he has a dedicated room for that sort of thing, and I don't. Like the craft room, it would need to be kept cat-free. ;)
I did, out of curiosity, play with the OGRE pieces/rules on the maps for Tobruk and The Longest Day (imagine a wave of GEVS and GEVPCs taking on heavys and howitzers in Normandy). THAT took some time just to get through a few turns.
