So I'm greeted today by the rather wonderful news that Kaine won in Virginia. Even more surprising is that Dick Black lost. For those of you not from the area, Dick Black is responsible for most of the lunatic right bills coming out of the Virginia state legislature over the last couple of years. His district is overwhelmingly Republican and they just threw him out on his ass. There is hope yet. And to quote Wonkette:

"And, er, uhm. Did the Democrats really win? Am I taking crazy pills?!?"

Speaking on being thrown out on their ass - anti-"Intelligent Design" sweep of Dover, PA school board. The Kansas story has been getting a lot more press, but there you go.

Also the normally staid Congressional Quarterly tells the White House to piss off.

Also the Governator's ballot measures soundly trounced. So yay.

Of course Texas bans gay marriage, you can't win them all. Also, it's Texas.

Washington Post article about secret prisons operated by the CIA. Not so secret anymore.

Meanwhile Cheney still fighting to make sure it's ok for the CIA to torture folks: ABC, Post.

Also, Bush has borrowed more money than all previous presidents combined. Or to sum up: "No American political leadership has ever willfully and deliberately mortgaged our country to foreign interests in the manner we have witnessed over the past four years."

Anyone still claiming the Republicans are the party of fiscal responsibility?
