"As you may have heard, voting for John Kerry will cause us to be attacked by terrorists. Which is weird, because we keep hearing that Kerry is pro-terrorist. Vice President Cheney apparently knows better: "If we make the wrong choice," he said yesterday, "then the danger is that we'll get hit again." Fearing that he may have been too subtle, Cheney also warned that should Bush fail to be re-elected, the waters will rise, the seas will boil, blood shall rain down upon the land, and terrorists will visit upon the house of each individual Kerry voter and there shall be a great wailing and gnashing of teeth. Cheney then brought his cloak across his face, laughed maniacally and disappeared in a puff of smoke, leaving his support staff to cast goat entrails to determine the fate of the world should the GOP lose the Senate."

A brief report on TCEP.

I had a wonderful time last weekend. Got to see many folks I hadn't seen since either the last TCEP or last Evecon. Got lots of gaming goodness in. Special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] grayhawkfh, [livejournal.com profile] tynieallen, and [livejournal.com profile] fuzzface00 for organizing. Glad to see [livejournal.com profile] voltbang, [livejournal.com profile] chelona, [livejournal.com profile] deza, and [livejournal.com profile] tall_man there and having fun. Also saw [livejournal.com profile] tth and [livejournal.com profile] aylinn and they confirmed that they'll be available to run some RPGs at IWIWAE. Had flyers out as well.

Ran many games, mostly wearing my Steve Jackson Games hat - all ran successfully, if not necessarily in their original time slots.

Games played, in vaguely chronological order since the days sort of blurred together:

Attika, Settlers of Catan, Lost worlds, Odin's Ravens, Poker, X-bugs, Web of Power, Roborally, Illuminati Crime Lords, Chez Goth, Pirate's Cove, Dia de los Muertos, Trivial Pursuit, Ninjaburger, Puerto Rico

The only game new for me was Crime Lords, which I quite like. It makes a number of significant improvements over the original Illuminati. It's much shorter. Money is very different, rather than everything making money, you have rackets which make money (and are easily stolen), and crooks which cost money (and can be killed). In takeover attempts money is only spent once, rather than doing the back and forth spending in Illuminati. In general power structures are much more fragile than in the original, which makes for more fluid games.

[livejournal.com profile] grayhawkfh, I should have may MIB report done soon.
