First, Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] wylddelirium!

Now, on with the report.

Friday: Lazy day with [livejournal.com profile] zammis and then made the very long, very wet drive out to Intercon. Intercon is an all-LARP gaming convention, though I brought my box o' games anyway. Very different from other cons I've been to. Smaller crowd makes it more intimate, easier to meet folks, but on the other hand it means there's not much to do if you're not in a game. I will say they lay out one of the nicest con suites I've ever seen. Friday night I played in a Callahans LARP, disappointing as I was part of love triangle missing one of its people. I still enjoyed the bad puns though. Hung out in the con suite for a bit and then off to bed.

Saturday: In the morning played in an exteremely silly Cthulhu LARP and had lots of fun. Was part of the "horde" that got to torture the poor tourists visiting Arkham. Was various cultists, a Deep One that was summoned by singing "Tomorrow" from Annie. Summoned the Hoki Poki spirit by doing the expected dance. Summoned Cthulhu using the rubber ducky tune from Seseme Street (Great Cthuhulu, you're the one . . .). Had time for a quick bit to eat before playing in the two Iron GM games. These were games written in 24 hours using a common set of elements (in this case, illuminati, kabbala, and human augmentation). [livejournal.com profile] ambug666's game had me being a telepathic kid that escaped a secret government institution (no my name was not River) who slowly regains his memories as we tried to figure out what happened. [livejournal.com profile] wylddelirium and [livejournal.com profile] deborantor's game was a more intellectual game in which I played an astrologer involved in a debate about improving humanity and become possessed by Ganesha. Both games were lots of fun. Del was bummed about not winning, but they really were both excellent. After that I didn't have anything to do as I didn't have an evening game. I went out in search of a movie theater to go see Serenity again, but failed to find one. I did get a little non-LARP gaming in instead. Played Puerto Rico, which I won, beating [livejournal.com profile] ambug666 by one point. Also got to try out Fjords and SPANC which I hadn't played before. Hung out with [livejournal.com profile] wylddelirium and [livejournal.com profile] nickydapoof for the rest of the evening.

Sunday: Slept in and packed up. Then waited around so that [livejournal.com profile] wylddelirium and I could do our plug for In The Dark Times. Final Intercon analysis: I had fun, I'm glad I went so I could see what it was like, but doubt I'll be back as I'm not sure it was worth the time and distance involved. LARPing still not really my thing, I probably would've had just as much fun going to faire. I think I'll still have fun doing Dark Times, as I'll be on the production side of things. In theatre I always preferred being a techie to acting and I think it holds true for LARPing as well.

After leaving Intercon I figured I could get some faire time in and headed towards Annapolis. Got in around 4:30 or so, enough time to grab some food and catch pub sing. Weather was awesome, made me sorry I hadn't spent the whole day there. Yummy hugs from [livejournal.com profile] ani_moore, [livejournal.com profile] kaliopi, [livejournal.com profile] keltique, [profile] wanderingbastet, and [livejournal.com profile] fairerhiannon. Also a hearty congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] dave_lister for proving himself a master pucker.

Monday: I work for the Feds, so it's part of the weekend :-) Slept for a long time.
In the evening off to see Dead Can Dance, which was far and away the highlight of the weekend. Thanks again to [livejournal.com profile] geekchick for scoring tickets, you can read her more detailed review here, Vvalkyri's review. The concert was incredible. Lisa Gerrard has this amazing ethereal, haunting, gorgeous voice; quite frankly I didn't mind that it sounded like it was inside my skull. Thought of [livejournal.com profile] kolyada as they played one of her favorite songs. Also got to put some LJ names to faces including [livejournal.com profile] geekchick, [livejournal.com profile] illusionmajik, and [livejournal.com profile] vvalkyri which is always good.

Next weekend: Faire! Definitely Saturday, maybe Sunday as well.
