My prayers go out to anyone still in New Orleans, and to sporksoma and hexar_le_saipe who are a little too close for comfort. I'm glad bluekitsune got out of there. Stay safe.
The latest word on the radio is that Katrina has already slowed down to a Category 4, and may both slow further and veer slightly to the east, which the talking heads say is good news on two fronts. One, the current windspeeds won't be sufficient to completely overwhelm the city's levee system, and two, if the storm moves enough to the east it won't even strike the city directly.
My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by the storm.
Additionally with a move to the east New Orleans will feel the "western wall" of the hurricane, the significantly weak side of hurricanes. Still I imagine many of us will be praying and watching the news.
My immediate worry is that they're saying bits of the Superdome's roof are coming off - and they've also lost power already. I don't know how many folks have ended up sheltering there, but I know the city was making plans to accommodate as many as 100,000 people.
hey cliff, sweetie! have you heard anything from cat? i´ve been trying to contact her these past few months and wasn´t able to reach her.. do you know whats going on? love, josefine
We got outta there yesterday. Traffic was a bitch, because there was still road damage from hurricane Ivan, where it tore up a bridge in Pensacola, FL LAST YEAR.
I`m glad you two got away, I didn`t realize you guys were in the path of the hurricane til klyf said. May there be more than toothpicks left when you get back.. and maybe a home someplace not on the usual path of hurricanes, as they are likely to only get worse and worse :/
