and so are the people who think others are ignorant. It is one many tiered, vicious, realistic circle. Took me a while to choke that reality pill down.
Sorry, but not knowing basic facts about the world around you is ignorance. If I say that our current president is Jimmy Carter then that is an ignorant statement, I don't think that there is anything cyclical about that. I recognize that many people are perfectly happy being ignorant and that shoddy reporting by our media sometimes makes it dificult to stay informed, but I still find it rather sad.
Thanks for clarifying what you said earlier. Much appreciated!
I agree, there are basic facts, like the who is the current president of this Country, that those who live here should know.
There are MANY basic facts, for many variable reasons, that one will know and another will not. SO, it is incredibley difficult to TRULY say who is ignorant unless one is basing it on a specific fact (ie: president) because we can not all know every fact that others know as well as we can not expect others to know the facts that we ourselves know and think are basic.
To only see the facts within our own unique fact box and expect people to know them is just silly. I've met plenty of people who think this way and it drives me up a wall at how ignorant people can be in saying others are ignorant when they are too for saying such silly things.
I've had to stop myself at times from saying "You don't know "X" !? Do you live under a rock!?" Realizing just how STUPID and ignorant I would be for uttering a statement like that.
