In case you somehow missed it I was at FSG. Overall I had a great time. The weather was beautiful throughout.
The Discordian track went very well, thanks to
wylddelirium,
divalion, and zenlizard for making it happen. We'll be back next year - though I may try and scale it back a little bit - I didn't feel like I had time to do any workshops other than our own.
I also want to thank all the Cabin 2 folks for making me and
zammis feel so welcome.
One of the things we've missed the last couple of years was having a group of folks to hang out since our old group has fallen apart.
This was the first year I've been part of the programming and I will definitely be willing to do it again, it felt good to be able to give back to the Pagan community in a way other than the little community service stints.
Packing was relatively painless. We loaded everything up Wednesday night and then headed out Thursday morning. Arrived around noon - always feels good to arrive, tis a homecoming of sorts :-)
Set up the trailer and unloaded everything. We found our friends and sat back and relaxed for a bit.
Once we're rested we go off to make silly hats, because really, what's the point of having a holy name if you don't have a silly hat to go with it? I already had a silly hat (and teased
zammis for forgetting hers) but figured I can always use another one. Unfortunately my hat while looking cool, was not structurally sound and soon fell apart.
After that we headed over to Cabin 2 where most of our friends were staying and participated in the meat fest and everyone was very well fed. Thanks to the grill master Bill.
We closed out the evening with a Blót to Loki. For those that don't know the Blót is an Asatru (Norse) tradition of toasting the Gods. We thought Loki would like some Sangria and had fun recounting various trickster stories.
Friday I had my Paganism and Gaming workshop in the morning which went very well. I'll give details of the topics we covered in a seperate post. Afterwords I took a nap - I intending to join
wylddelirium for afternoon Random Acts but slept through it.
I did wake up in plenty of time for the main ritual. The theme was "where the wild things are" and the planners had made these amazing wild thing costumes from the book. Ritual itself was nice and simple - about getting in touch with your inner wildness.
Afterwords was sitting and hanging out with friends and drinking yummy mead, listening to the Ocean Orchestra in the distance. I did head down to the fire circle to dance for a bit. The drumming was excellent and the fire spinners were fun to watch. I didn't stay too long though as I knew I'd have a busy day tomorrow.
Saturday was indeed busy. The structure for the Freeze still wasn't done so I spent to morning helping zenlizard finish putting it together. We got it close enough to finished that it was usable and amazingly it actually worked more or less as designed. I'll post more about the Freeze in a seperate post, for now suffice to say it took up most of the day and went really well.
I did catch a little bit of our Alternative Divination workshop.
wylddelirium read my M&M's. I read animal crackers for her and
ninjaslug. Sadly the divination by trebuchet didn't really work too well, but it's still fun just to have a trebuchet to play with.
citabria also did divinition using french fries which was pretty cool.
In the evening I went down to the concert and auction. Of the bands I though Izolda was only so-so, but Kiva was amazing. I haven't heard them play a set that sounded that good in years. At the auction I scored some of Magpie's mead - that I'll save until
zammis can drink again. Late night spent more time relaxing and talking and had more yummy mead.
Sunday packed up, said our good byes, and headed home.
