We lobbied for Kennedy's amendment, against Santorum's (because it SUCKED, that's why, LOL), and watched both fail - and not just by a little, but MISERABLY.

I would love to know what's the heads of the lawmakers, because whatever it is is rotting and should be thrown out.

If only Fight Club's ultimate purpose would somehow be realized - place everyone in the universe on equal footing for once. Gah. (and no, I don't really wish that. Or at least, would never do it myself. LOL)

The writer puts it perfectly - this bill is a pile of shite, and we are going to have to sit here and watch it pass, hoping like a mofo that come 2008, we can turn it retroactively into the crap fertilizer that it really is.

Can I just SAY that I am glad now that I don't own credit cards? Well, I have one but am paying it off by May..calling to lower the limits...then hiding it.

I heard about this on NPR the other day and was, frankly, disgusted. And scared...very scared. At some point we are going to have to file bankruptcy, because this is what divorce does to credit and such....a good way for us to be able to get the debts S. incurred off our mutual credit so that we can do the things we need to do.

But this thing...it is horrible. Do lawmakers really care so little for the people they make laws for? The story on NPR said that the number of bankruptcy cases have increased, and nearly every case is due to immense credit card debt. What isn't reported, however, is the cause of the credit card debt. Most families get into situations of financial trouble due to medical problems; mom/dad gets sick, misses a week of work, the other spouse has to stay home and help. That is at least one week's worth of income lost.

Because they come up short that month they have to use their credit cards to buy groceries, gas, etc. Often, as well, many of the medical bills get transferred to the credit cards. Because of the way terms are set up on cards, ANYTHING can make your rates skyrocket (Damon and I watched the coolest/saddest program on PBS about the secret history of the credit card...man, those things are nothing but death traps financially), even if it isn't dealing directly with that company. Late payment on the car? Visa hikes your rates.

It would be somewhat understandable if it were truly an attempt to punish those people who abuse the system. When more than 90% of the cases involved aren't due to luxurious spending sprees on credit cards but instead by people who are having to use credit cards for emergencies (and being severely punished for it by the companies), the system isn't being abused...it is abusing US.

sorry, just had to rant =\
