kmusserWoohoo, an update. A special thanks to my friends for welcoming me to LJ, I'll try and post more than once a month .
Last weekend I got to meet Reiner Knizia, one of the forces behind the German game invasion. His visit was hosted by Motly Fool, and there were 30-some folks there to meet him. He was very sociable and chatted about game design for a bit. We then played some games. I got to play him in Medici (he came in last *gasp*). I guess I'm not a total fanboy, as it didn't even occur to me to take anything for him to sign.
I did make it to the renaissance faire on Sunday and saw some peeps *wave at peeps*. Will be back this weekend. Some wrongness may be involved.
Work has been busy. For those that don't already know I began work Sept. 3rd as an independant consultant. I am doing the same stuff I was before (cartography/GIS for the Natural Resources Conservation Service), but will now be making much more. Anyway, it's been busy ever since I've been back, and will be for awhile. That's ok, I actually prefer busy to dead.
Finished making upcoming travel plans. Halloween I will be in Biloxi, MS for the wedding of![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
sporksoma and Hexar. For Thanksgiving I will be in London with zammis (yeah, baby, yeah).
other gaming projects: our regular Friday night gaming continues. I'm also working on rewriting the rules to Divine Right. The rules as written are practically unreadable and it bugged me so much that I decided it should be fixed. Yeah, so I'm a geek. The results will be posted on my website, provided the game designer gives me permission.
other work related projects: various spin-offs from now being self-employed. I need to find a health plan. Any advice? Also need to get my finances in order since I need to start doing my own taxes. Got Quicken, just need to spend the time plugging everything in.
other other ramblings: been feeling out of touch with the Pagan community as I haven't gone to any events in so long, will try to make time for them. This Sunday I'm torn between going to ren fest, Pagan Pride day (downtown dc), and Takoma Park festival (which I know will have excellent music).
Also the following weekend anti World Bank/IMF/globalization protesters will be descending on DC. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to do anything for the protests. The last big ones (2 years ago) I went down and passed out pixie sticks.
and I'm supposed to be working on a map of DC (work so far is posted at http://www.fantasymaps.com/greenmap/) though I haven't been inspired to do much on it lately and haven't gotten much input from the others working on it. Still it hasn't been forgotten, I would like to get it published on of these days.
