Washington Post article about secret prisons operated by the CIA. Not so secret anymore.

Meanwhile Cheney still fighting to make sure it's ok for the CIA to torture folks: ABC, Post.

Also, Bush has borrowed more money than all previous presidents combined. Or to sum up: "No American political leadership has ever willfully and deliberately mortgaged our country to foreign interests in the manner we have witnessed over the past four years."

Anyone still claiming the Republicans are the party of fiscal responsibility?

Meh, I just wish the stories had gotten as much coverage as they do now, but everyone was too worried about John Kerry throwing medals into a fountain 30 years ago, or *gasp* people who love each other getting married but just happen to be the same gender. Bleh. Texas needs to secede, and take Bush with them.

We haven't had a party of fiscal responsibility in... let's just call it a *very* long time and leave it at that, 'cos thinking about it is just plain depressing.

Under a Republican-controlled Congress. However, after some analysis I concluded that both said Congress and said President rode on the shoulders of increased revenue, by taxing a nation whose economic cycle was on an upswing. That behavior could not be sustained in the inevitable downturn that followed, so I do not count that behavior as being on the plus side of the "fiscally responsible" scale -- I count it as a wash.

I have been sickened over the last several years by long-term Congresscritters (and politicians in general) of both parties claiming the exact opposite of what each had claimed 10-15 years ago. This doesn't apply to all of them, just to most. Damn hypocrites.
