Gaming went very well, I think I'll move it to Saturdays regularly, will aim for August 27th for the next one (yes, it's the first day of faire, but the first day is almost always too hot for me to deal with faire anyway).
Thanks to
liakela,
allura,
unitzero,
byronczimmer,
principia_coh,
daehith,
bakkerkid, and the LJ-less Doug for coming out to play games.
I finally got to try out Shadows over Camelot and quite liked it. It's a cooperative game kind of like the Lord of the Rings game. You all play the knights of king Arthur and go off on quests to fight evil - we got ourselves soundly thrashed (killed by Morgan in fact).
After that we played Junta and I was El Presidente for life for most of the game. I was too generous though and
byronczimmer ended up socking away the most money in his Swiss bank account.

Knights with more than 8 cards in their hands need to get their butts into the field. Likewise, Knights really need to not flit around so much -- pick a destination and go there and do stuff. Movement is a wasted action if you don't DO anything at the quest. I honestly thought that Doug was traitor for these two reasons (holding and not playing excessive cards in his hands and flitting around, never playing more than one or two cards on a quest before moving somewhere else). Had we all been experienced with the game, he would have been accused at seige engine #6 -- though he did prove himself by not playing seige engine #12 when he could have.
I think I need to go over the values on the Black Knight and Lancelot cards in the explination (or have a small printout with those values on it), and probably should determine the frequency of the other cards, and let folks know THAT as well. Know thy enemy kind of stuff. Of course, I totally forgot about the Morgan "everyone take a hit" card. Need to add the possibility of that card to my 'how to win as a traitor and not really try' book.
I'm also lessoning my thoughts on burning life for an extra action after moving to a quest. Instead, burn the life as your 'advance evil' action instead -- it has the same effect and lets you cease putting out SEs and cards for a few turns -- hopefully enough to push back the relentless tide of the cards.
Anyway, it's definety a game that will be at TCEP 12.
