My reaction to Nader running for the most part echoes Gov. Dean's response. I think Ralph Nader has lost any credibility that he had.

Sure both Kerry and Bush are all but owned by major corporations. The problem is that Bush and Company are also beholden to a bunch of folks that want to turn the U.S. into a theocracy. (more background).

The choice between a government run by corporations and one run by Christian Fundamentalists isn't a pleasant choice, but for me it's a pretty easy one, I'll take the corporations every time.

This pretty much mirrors my thoughts exactly.

If you didn't see this (http://www.livejournal.com/users/metaphorge/454081.html), you might want to take a look at it.

The second article seemed extremely useful. Scary too.

*tucked away for future reference*

I wasn't real impressed with Nader last time either, but I do think that there may be a silver lining to his running this year. I have a gut feeling that after 2000, the Democrats are better off with him running to galvanize the faithful (as if Dubya isn't going to do that well enough on his own.)

I feel that way too. I voted for him in 2000, but then, I live in Maine which didn't stand much chance of going to Dubya (and indeed it didn't).

I wouldn't consider voting for him this time despite the continued lack of risk. He's been a bit kooky lately (what with Lessig)... regardless, I want to see as strong a vote against BushJr as possible and the clearest way to do that (to my mind) is to vote for his most popular opposition (though writing makes me cringe a little).

Actually, I am not so sure: it may be easier to fight - err, oppose - the Fundies in establishing their agenda. The corporations seem to have more money, more savvy, and a less tangible front - like fighting an opponent that can teleport or shapeshift.

That said, I agree that the shrub's got to go...

I'm becoming more and more all for the idea of moving away and being a total isolationist/survivalist. I've even started amassing literature on the way of life via soulseek. And I swear to bob that if any of that anti-religion shit gets passed, we are so packing up and moving to Canada. At least we could probably find people who smoke pot there.
